Buttery Baked Potatoes

4 unpeeled baking potatoes, scrubbed and dried
1 to 2 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper

Start heating oven to 400 degrees F.

Put butter into a shallow pan and melt in oven. Cut potatoes lengthwise into wedges. Put in pan; turn to coat with butter. Arrange in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake, turning pieces twice so all sides spend some time against the pan bottom, 45 to 50 minutes or until browned and tender.
