New Orleans Jambalaya

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup green bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped garlic
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 pounds raw whole shrimp
2 cups diced ham
2 cups tomatoes
1 cup raw rice
1 teaspoon salt
Cayenne pepper to your taste
1 bay leaf
1 cup water

Sauté 1/2 cup chopped onion, green pepper, 1/4 cup chopped celery and garlic in 2 tablespoons melted butter. Add 2 pounds raw whole shrimp and 2 cups diced ham and fry 5 minutes.

Stir in 2 cups tomatoes and cook 10 minutes. Stir in 1 cup raw rice. Add salt, cayenne pepper, bay leaf and 1 cup water. Boil. Cover. Simmer about 30 minutes until rice is done.
