Apple Turnovers

4 medium apples, peeled, cored, sliced
1/ cup raisins
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon milk
2 tablespoons apple juice/cider
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pastry for double pie shell

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Simmer first 5 ingredients in a saucepan for 5 minutes.

Divide pastry into 8 parts and roll 6- to 7-inch circles. Spread each with 3 tablespoons of warm apple filling. Moisten edges with milk, fold pastry in half, crimp edges with a fork and poke a vent hole in top. Place on a greased cookie sheet and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Brush turnover with milk and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.

Serves 4.
