Colorado Cherry Bars

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted
1 (14 ounce) jar cherry preserves

Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix well. Stir in the oats and brown sugar. Add the butter and mix until crumbly. Reserve 1/3 of the crumb mixture. Pat the remaining crumb mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking pan. Spread with the reserves and sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes or until light brown and bubbly. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Makes 16 bars.
