Chocolate Chunk Cookies

2 sticks (1 cup) butter, softened
1/2 cup each granulated sugar and packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Beat all ingredients except flour and chocolate chunks in a large bowl with mixer on medium speed 3 to 4 minutes until fluffy.  On low speed, gradually add flour; beat just to blend.  Stir in chocolate.

Drop heaping tablespoonsful 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet(s).

Bake 10 to 12 minutes until browned at edges.  Cool on sheet on a wire rack 2 minutes before removing to rack to cool completely.

Makes 30 cookies.
