Dream DessertSubmitted to Recipes To Go by Laurie Smith My boys when they were growing up always called this "Dream Dessert." I never knew the name for it as I got the recipe from a hostess at a party I attended in the early '80's. 1 store bought angel food cake already baked Tear the angel food cake into bite-size pieces and set aside. Mix the instant pudding and milk together as per package directions. Blend sour cream into the pudding mixture. Open the cans of cherry pie filling. In a large clear bowl, put a layer of the angel food cake pieces. Cover with a layer of the pudding mixture. Cover this with a layer of the cherry pie filling. Continue to layer until bowl is full, being sure to make the last layer the cherry pie filling. Refrigerate overnight or 24 hours before serving. You can also turn this into a flaming dessert by soaking 6 to 8 sugar cubes in either pure mint, pure orange or pure lemon extract for a few minutes. Then place the sugar cubes in the center of the bowl and light! Be sure to remove sugar cubes after flames goes out. NOTE: You must use the pure extracts that are at least 80% alcohol or it won't flame...always check your label on the extract you choose to be sure. |
