Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

1 (16 ounce) package marshmallows
1/2 cup butter or margarine
12 to 14 cups popped popcorn
Vegetable food coloring (optional)
Plastic wrap or cellophane

Place marshmallows and butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH until melted, about 1 minute. Stir until smooth. If desired, add several drops of food coloring to mixture and stir thoroughly.

Gradually fold popped corn into marshmallow mixture, adding more as necessary so mixture isn't too sticky. Mix until well coated. When coated popcorn is cool enough to handle, place 1 cup mixture in center of a 10-inch square of plastic wrap. Shape into balls. Twist wrap and tie securely.

NOTE: To add decorations to the popcorn balls, reserve a small amount of marshmallow-butter mixture for "gluing" on small candies.

Makes about 10 popcorn balls.
